Many hundreds of thousands of individuals around the world are committed to meeting the challenge for a better quality of life for persons with dementia and their carers. Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) works eloquently and with dedication to bring awareness around the world on Alzheimer’s and related dementia.

The latest ADI initiative in which Sri Lanka has participated is the global development of a unique dementia patients’ Charter. It will embrace the caregivers of every description. The Charter will highlight those issues, which are intractably vexing for those engaged in dementia services. Those issues are stigma, awareness, education, prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, support and the long-term effect on the community of the exponential growth of persons with dementia. The Charter will be a living instrument to “call to action” of key National policy makers, private sector decision makers and donors to provide tangible support.
