MEMORY WALK 2010Come Walk with us and celebrate World Alzheimer's DayThe annual Dementia Awareness Campaign and Memory Walk is the flagship fundraising event of the Lanka Alzheimer's Foundation and is a great opportunity for you, your friends and family, to get together to support the work of the Foundation. Thank you to everyone who was involved in 2009. The Foundation is looking forward to the 2010 Memory Walk, which will see hundreds of people stepping out to support people with dementia and their carers. World Alzheimer's Day is co-ordinated by Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) and observed on 21 September each year. Alzheimer’s Associations around the world will be holding Memory Walks on or around World Alzheimer’s Day. Family caregivers will be supporting the event, which will take to the streets of Colombo for the ninth successive year on Saturday 25th September. The work of the Foundation is close to their hearts. To quote a caregiver—“Unfortunately I know only too well how devastating Alzheimer’s can be; not only on the person who has been diagnosed, but also on their family and friends. It is a cruel disease, which over time gradually robs you of the person you know and love. By participating in the Memory Walk you help raise awareness that will make an enormous difference to the lives of people with dementia and their carers. ”To quote a participant: “I thoroughly enjoy taking part in the Memory Walk and am now urging as many other people as possible, whatever their age, to take part. The Memory Walk gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the importance of memory; how it shapes who we are and allows us to form relationships with other people.”We look forward to your participation. Please make a commitment and urge friends and family members to join the Memory Walk 2010. Saturday 25th September 8 a.m. - Angsana Spa Garden, Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
