Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation is committed to raising awareness about Alzheimer's and the other Dementias and removing the social stigma attached to the disease. Also it's commitments are aligned with making lives better for Persons with Dementia and their Caregivers. LAF is providing a set of services to the community with above goals in mind. Services provided from LAF are either free or at cost. If you, your familiy member, or a friend is in need of help, see what's applicable from the following list (you can "Read more" for details) and contact LAF. 

 
Raising Awareness PDF Print E-mail

Raising AwarenessThe Foundation builds awareness in the community with the intention of removing the stigma attached to the dementias.  This is done through media coverage, presentations and activities organized by the Foundation throughout the year.  A three month Dementia Awareness/Fund Raising Campaign is launched prior to World Alzheimer’s Day, which is celebrated on September 21st.  The awareness desk is set up at strategic locations in Colombo and the Greater Colombo areas.

Counselling PDF Print E-mail

The Foundation’s volunteers provide free confidential counseling for persons with dementia and their families.  The counseling extends to the provision of helpful information on understanding dementia, the progression of the disease and information on successful, stress free caregiving.

TrainingThe Foundation provides in-house consultative training for family caregivers and professional carers, on a one-to-one basis.

Home Visits (Own Home/Care Homes/Hospitals) PDF Print E-mail

Home Visits SummaryVolunteers visit persons with dementia (PWDs) in their home environment, Elders homes and hospitals.  Specific services include assessments and recommendations on case management.  Family and other carers are provided information on correct caregiving methodologies.  Volunteers stress on the importance of providing love, care and attention to PWDs. Please contact LAF if you need advice or a home visit for your family.

Hygienic Products for Dementia Care PDF Print E-mail

Medical SuppliesThe Foundation provides a voluntary service where quality hygienic products (adult diapers, under pads, air mattresses, disposable gloves, masks, wheel Chairs etc) at a subsidized rate are available to persons with dementia, registered with the Foundation.
